SVM backs Shevington residents to be given the choice on tax

Shevington Moor is classed as part of Standish by the residents but when it comes to which ward they vote for it is actually Shevington Cllrs they vote for. This is true of Robin Hill estate in Standish too. But the residents of Shevington Moor, Shevington, Appley Bridge or Crooke Village have to pay more tax than the rest of the Borough due to Wigan Labour's Council imposing an extra tax called the Parish Council Tax. What seems strange is Wigan Council and Labour say the residents have to pay this tax yet and will not allow them to get rid of that element and pay what everyone else does.

With a cost of living crisis every penny counts says Labour and we would agree and that is why we are backing the call for Shevington Residents to have what is called a Community Review. This is where people that live in the Shevington Ward, which includes Shevington Moor, can sign the petition and if enough people do, which is 565, then the Council would have to hold a referendum and allow the residents the choice whether they continue with the council tax or not. We support democracy and that is why we are backing the residents.

If you live in Shevington Moor, Shevington, Appley Bridge or Crooke Village please click the link on the site to sign. If you don't live n the area but know any family or friends that do then please share the link with them and allow them a democratic vote on whether they continue to pay the tax or not.
